Identifying a theme.

So far I have been set on Dante's inferno, but things have taken a turn.
Now I am trying to find a theme based on lore, myth, legends and so on.

I have decided a few things:

1. Packaging - a bottle packaging design.
2. It's going to be a series, something that tells a story, most likely one story for each bottle. Thinking 6 bottles, but nothing is set in stone.
3. I want to use fabric/material in my design.

Identifying the difference.

The idea so far is to create a design based on different types of stories;
Legends
Myths
Saga
Fable
Lore (Folklore)
Epic (referred to epic stories)
Fairytale.

I want to create 6 different "main" characters that will appear in the illustrations.
I want to use the title as above (inspired by the movie title "I am Legend" of course) with the different genre of stories I choose.

I will then have to find 6 different stories, that fits into the different genres. I am unsure if the stories is going to have a common theme as well, or if I am just going to choose stories I find interesting.
One of the issues I will have to deal with, is if choosing a story where the characters are animals.
Do I create a human version of that animal, perhaps create a hybrid creature, or use the animal character as the main "person".
Then it is the process of developing these characters.

I might even do my own twist in these different stories, to fit my design and "modernise" them. But right now I am leaning towards keep the original. I will still have to wait and see.
There is also to consider who's view shall I display the story from, the hero or the villain?

Some points I need to sort out.

Another thing I need to keep in mind is typography, this is not my strong suit.
Do I use the same typography on all, or do I personalise them? My thought right now is to give them a personality to fit the main character.
This means typography will be something of the last I will do, but at the same time I need to think of space/placement on the bottle.

When it comes to bottles, I am currently doing research on that, and I am also considering the content, if I should go for for example; vodka, or 6 different types like; rum, whiskey, gin ect. or some non alcoholic.

 I will then identify the bottle most suitable for my project, things I need to consider is the content, space; might want to choose a larger bottle to fit illustrations on, Bottle cap, and what does the shape communicate.

I have been looking through my new book The Rise of the Guardians, there is a lot of excellent illustrations that really inspires me and the style I want to portray.
I am actually watching the animated movie right now.

Most of my inspiration comes from games and movies, but I also look at a lot of illustrations.
